Camarillo White Horses

The exciting and informative Camarillo White Horses display seen by thousands at the 2025 Ventura County Fair originated as an exhibit at the Camarillo Ranch House.  A small group of volunteers was determined to showcase the legacy of Adolfo Camarillo and his famous horses beyond the Camarillo Ranch.  Their energy, talent and commitment were recognized by judges in the Agriculture Building when awards included First Place Blue Ribbon in Museums category and Best Overall Feature Exhibit.

The exhibit has been returned to the Ranch and will remain on display through late November.  If you missed it at the Ventura County Fair, be sure to come see it at the Camarillo Ranch.  We are open for tours Saturdays and Sundays, 11am until 2pm.

"Name Our Colt" Winner

Celebrating the legacy of the majestic Camarillo White Horses proudly bred by Adolfo
Camarillo, the exhibit featuring them at the 2025 Ventura County Fair offered visitors a
chance to vote on a name for the statue of a Camarillo White Horse colt on display as he
towered over visitors in the Agriculture Building.

Ballots provided names of three Camarillo White Horses who lived many years ago:
Amigo, Rico and Valentino. It was exciting for volunteers at the exhibit to watch the ballot
box fill up with ballots day after day throughout the duration of the Fair. Voters
overwhelmingly favored the name Valentino with 385 votes, compared with 220 votes for
Rico, followed by 172 in favor of Amigo. Thanks go out to all who participated in the voting
process.

Foaled in 1985, the actual Camarillo White Horse Valentino was known as the
“miracle” colt. He did not stand up for six days after he was born and was given only a 10%
chance to live. Thanks to excellent veterinary care and devoted owners who remained by his
side night and day, he miraculously survived. Valentino went on to appear in many local
parades as well as in the Pasadena Rose Parade at least five times.
Come to the Camarillo Ranch on Sunday, October 26th, 12-4pm to celebrate Adolfo
Camarillo’s birthday and see Valentino, the colt statue who now has a name.
