A decision by the City has been made to cancel all public and school tours at the Camarillo Ranch Property, effective immediately and until further notice, to protect our most vulnerable community members which are elderly and those with respiratory illnesses.  This comes after receiving guidelines provided by the California Public Health Department to encourage social distancing to protect the public an slow the rate of transmission, “The timely implementation of aggressive strategies that create social distance and those that reduce close contact of people not regularly together, including limiting gatherings, has proven effective in prior pandemics at delaying rates of transmission and reducing illness and death.” We feel that this action will help protect our docents.

ABOUT SCHOOL TOUR PROGRAM

In the spirit of Adolfo Camarillo, who supported education for all children living on his ranch and served on the Pleasant Valley School District Board of Trustees for 37 years, the Camarillo Ranch Foundation is proud to provide complimentary school tours aimed at 3rd grade students across the county. Each year our dedicated School Tour Docents lead over 30 school tours and introduce more than 1,500 children to our shared history and Adolfo’s legacy as they discover what life was like on a California rancho at the turn of the last century by learning how to make butter, rope cattle, plant lima beans, and much more

By preserving the Camarillo Ranch and Adolfo’s legacy, the Camarillo Ranch Foundation is also preserving a shared history for not only our ancestors, but also for ourselves, our children and future generations yet to come.
